Technology Is the Opiate

Karl Marx said religion was the opiate of the masses. He was wrong for this era. Technology took the role — and unlike religion, it manufactures the suffering it claims to relieve.

Some are waking up to the fact that we have built an alternate version of 1984, where technology keeps us distracted and psychopathic. I think they've discovered that Karl Marx was wrong for this era — that it is not religion that is the opiate of the masses, but technology in its current state. If left unchecked, and if humanity continues to misunderstand it as just a tool, it will be the end of us.
