Aim to Put Yourself Out of a Job
- Look out for your team. Your job is to move obstacles out of their way so they can do the work.
- Never live in your own silo. Be an eternal student. Take input and criticism from your team and from the people you trust. If you want to get cocky, do it right before game time — whatever game time looks like at the moment. In that moment your mental state should be that you are the life-changing event for whoever or whatever is about to confront you and your team. That is the only time you get to be default aggressive.
- The biggest compliment you will ever get is a team that follows you to the ends of the earth. Loyal to the core — not because they fear you, but because they respect you.
- Your job is to prep one or more of them to replace you. You should always be aiming to put yourself out of a job.
